Malawi shared experience on the implementation of the Malawi COVID-19 Electronic Vaccine Certificate during the DHIS2 annual conference in Oslo, held in June 2022. The presentation was made by Rajab Billy, Head of Software Development & Sustainability at the Digital Health Division, Ministry of Health (MOH) of Malawi.

Building on gains from the Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) program, the Digital Health Division developed and rolled out the eVaccine registry between February and March in 2021. The registry was customized from the DHIS2 COVID-19 vaccine delivery toolkit, and since its inception has been an essential tool used to manage all aspects of documentation and reporting for the vaccination program.

The COVID-19 vaccination program and digital tools was successful through collaboration and coordination between the MOH, the Public Health Institute of Malawi (PHIM) and numerous partners. LIN is proud to be a part of this effort, and to be able to share our experience and lessons learnt with the wider digital health community!
