Over the new year, Luke International (LIN) and Pingtung Christian Hospital (PTCH) hosted a delegation from the Digital Health Division, Ministry of Health of Malawi, and key actors for digital health development in Malawi to a benchmarking tour in Pingtung, Taiwan. The Ministry of Health of Malawi launched its work to develop the nationally owned Hospital-Wide Information System in 2022. The purpose of the tour was to observe firsthand the implementation of a hospital wide information system at PTCH as a benchmark. The delegates were able to see how the hospital is utilizing innovative technology that is fully integrated within and outside of the hospital and interoperable with other facilities through government services. These capabilities are designed to help improve patient outcomes and provide efficient and quality care.

The week-long tour also inlcuded visits to the Sandimen township, a mountain indiginous township, where PTCH provides outreach and support through the community care network and community referral systems. The Malawian guests were welcomed by the directors of the Sandimen Public Health Center. The exchange included not only demonstrations of the community care systems, but also moments of cultural exchange that was celebrated with songs and dances. We are happy to start the new year with strong partnerships and positive developments in 2023!
