Digital health interventions are a key to the attainment of Universal Health Coverage (UHC)! That was the main take away message from the Digital Health Symposium held in Lilongwe on 17th November 2021.

The Hon. Minister of Health Khumbidze Kandodo Chiponda graced the occasion to launch the newly published Malawi Digital Health Strategy (2020-2025). The journey to draft the strategy document commenced in 2020 following the expiry of the Malawi e-Health Strategy that covered from 2016 to 2020. The Strategy has been jointly development by the Ministry with key stakeholders in digital health, including implementing partners, donor partners, and government ministries and agencies. The Strategy highlights Malawi’s approach to attain UHC by implementing selected activities in the next five years, investing in digital health programs that are sustainable, efficient and harmonized, to support health service delivery. Focus will also be on strengthening the digital health backbone, including the infrastructure, standards and compliance, human resources and connectivity.

The symposium was captivated with digital health pavilions from the Digital Health Division, EGPAF and LIN. LIN showcased the triage system that will soon be integrated with the National Electronic Medical Records System (NEMRS).

LIN is proud to be a committed partner in digital health to the Malawi Government as we work towards attaining the goal of UHC!
