The Ministry of Health of Malawi launched the “Digital Health Investments”, including the National Electronic Medical Records System (EMRS) user support help desk, in an event held in Lilongwe on August 6th, 2021. Luke International (LIN) participated in the event as the partner to Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Jointly, the organizations support digital health solutions for the HIV program and wider health services in over 900 of health facilities across the country.

An on-site demonstration was held at Area 18 Health Center in Lilongwe, followed by remarks at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) attended by the Minister of Health, Honorable Khumbidze Kandodo Chiponda. The Honorable Minister personally appreciated the Help Desk ticketing system which she mentioned can be adopted in all the other sectors of development.

Digital health solutions are one of the important tools that can assist health workers to deliver quality health care services. By recording and managing health information, health workers can rely on the systems to produce reliable reports and data to support decision making. Patients can also receive continuous care, with their health information stored securely without fear of paper records being misplaced or lost. These developments are the continuation and expansion of the long-time investments for innovative electronic data systems from PEPFAR/US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Malawi.
